Sunscreen for Sensitive Skin – Rosacea

Guidance

MD SolarSciences provides sunscreens specifically formulated for those of us suffering from rosacea.

Rosacea is incurable. Fortunately, our Scientific Advisory Committee experts provide these recommendations to suppress symptoms and reduce the frequency of rosacea outbreaks. The first step is consulting a doctor or dermatologist and request a proper diagnostic test if you feel you are at risk. Your doctor may prescribe antibiotics as part of a treatment program.

Dermatologists highly advise patients with rosacea to avoid hot weather and sun exposure during the peak hours of 10 am to 4 pm. Excessive sweat, abrasive chemical actives in beauty products, stress, excess consumption of spicy food and alcohol can increase the frequency of outbreaks and worsen symptoms.

Wearing zinc and titanium-based , broad spectrum, mineral sunscreen labeled suited for  rosacea-prone skin every day is a wise choice. Pay particular attention to ingredients. Ingredients such as oxybenzone, for example, will irritate your sensitive skin. Keep your rosacea under control by choosing a sweat-resistant, non-comedogenic sunscreen.

MD SolarSciences SPF 30+ Mineral Screen Tinted Gel is perfect for minimizing facial redness and evening out rosacea-prone skin to a natural glow.

Most other brands of sunscreen include unsafe irritants such as oxybenzone, paba, vitamins A and E as well as scented botanicals. These chemical components worsen the symptoms of rosacea. Those of us with sensitive skin disorders should be cautious of these factors.

Rosacea-prone skin is ultra-sensitive to touch. Thus, the texture of any product  applied to the face must be soft, smooth and lightweight. At MD SolarSciences, we craft our sunscreens to supply your skin with the most delicate application and feel as to avoid causing pain such as soreness or stinging. Traditional sunscreens are thick and heavy, demanding extraneous rub-in and pressure on your tender skin. Our silky sunscreens, however, are simple to apply, weightless and non-oily.

Basics

Rosacea defined….

Over 16 million Americans suffer from rosacea, a chronic skin disorder causing inflammatory redness on areas of the face. Regarding symptoms and treatments, 75% of Americans are left uninformed. As instances of rosacea increases in number, so does the need for awareness.

Committed to safety, health and education, MD SolarSciences intends to inform those of us with sensitive skin conditions. We provide a thorough explanation of rosacea—including its symptoms, signs and treatment as well as cautionary safety measures to alleviate those of us with rosacea-prone skin.

Complications

Although more common in women, anyone can be diagnosed with rosacea. However, more risk factors have been found: If you’re between the ages of 30-50, have fair skin or tend to blush easily, you’re more like to be diagnosed than the rest of us.

A noticeable inflammation of facial features, rosacea causes flushed redness of the cheeks, chin, eyelids, nose and forehead. Oftentimes you will experience a burning or stinging sensation, oozing/swelling blemishes (imitating acne) a bulbous nose and red, watery, irritated eyes.
